FAQs of Counseling

 "Butterfly" by Lori Dreier

Below are some common questions and answers.  If you don't find your question here, please write to me or call me.  I am available to answer your questions.

What can I expect from my first session?

You can expect to have an opportunity to tell me a little bit about what's concerning you.  I will make an effort to understand the nature of your concerns and to give you a general idea about how I can help.  In addition, I will be honest with you about whether or not I am the best choice for you, and if not, will recommend another counselor, who may be a better choice.

How long do people usually stay in counseling?

This is in large part up to you, depending on the kind of personal growth you want to experience.  I provide both short term (6-12 sessions) and long term counseling (12 sessions or more).  Many decide that, after 6 sessions with me, they are eager to continue or to deepen their process of discovery and growth.  Others complete short term work and continue with me at another point in their lives.

Do you take insurance?

I don't file insurance claims, but I can provide you with a monthly invoice for you to send to your insurance company for reimbursement.

What is your office like?

My office is in a private suite of small offices with other counselors.  It is set up like a living room with comfortable seating, calm lighting, a carpeted floor, original artwork, and is kept at a comfortable temperature.

Is your office wheelchair accessible?

Yes.  There is a ramp leading to the front door, and all entrances are wheelchair width.  Upon arrival, ring the front door bell, and you will be assisted into the building.
